ثُمَّ بَدَّلْنَا مَكَانَ ٱلسَّيِّئَةِ ٱلْحَسَنَةَ حَتَّىٰ عَفَوا۟ وَّقَالُوا۟ قَدْ مَسَّ ءَابَآءَنَا ٱلضَّرَّآءُ وَٱلسَّرَّآءُ فَأَخَذْنَـٰهُم بَغْتَةً وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ

EnglishSaheeh International
Then We exchanged in place of the bad [condition], good, until they increased [and prospered] and said, "Our fathers [also] were touched with hardship and ease." So We seized them suddenly while they did not perceive.

பின்னர் நாம் (அவர்களுடைய) துன்ப நிலைக்குப் பதிலாக (வசதிகளுள்ள) நல்ல நிலையில் மாற்றியமைத்தோம். அதில் அவர்கள் (செழித்துப் பல்கிப்) பெருகிய போது, அவர்கள்; நம்முடைய மூதாதையர்களுக்கும் தான் இத்தகைய துக்கமும் சுகமும் ஏற்பட்டிருந்தன" என்று (அலட்சியமாகக்) கூறினார்கள் - ஆகையால் அவர்கள் உணர்ந்து கொள்ளாத நிலையில் அவர்களைத் திடீரென (வேதனையைக் கொண்டு) பிடித்தோம்.

පසුව අපි නපුර වෙනුවට යහපත පරිවර්තනය කළෙමු. අවසානයේ ඔවුහු සමෘද්ධිමත් වූහ. තවද ‘සැබැවින් ම අපගේ මුතුන් මිත්තන්හට දුක හා සතුට ඇති විය’ යැයි ඔවුහු පැවසුවෝ ය. පසුව ඔවුන් නොදැන සිටිය දී අපි අනපේක්ෂිත ලෙසින් ඔවුන්ව ග්‍රහණය කළෙමු.

Tafsir of 7:95

Afflictions that struck Earlier Nations Allah mentions the Ba'sa' and Darra' that struck the earlier nations to whom He sent Prophets. Ba'sa', refers to the physical sicknesses and ailments that they suffered, while Darra', refers to the poverty and humiliation that they experienced, لَعَلَّهُمْ يَضَّرَّعُونَ (so that they might humble themselves) supplicate, humble themselves and invoke Allah, that He might remove the afflictions that they suffered from. This Ayah indicates that Allah sent down severe afflictions to them so that they might invoke Him, but they did not do what He ordered them. Therefore, He changed the affliction into prosperity to test them, ثُمَّ بَدَّلْنَا مَكَانَ السَّيِّئَةِ الْحَسَنَةَ (Then We changed the evil for the good,) Therefore, Allah changed the hardship into prosperity, disease and sickness into health and well-being, and poverty into richness in provision, so that they might be thankful to Allah for this, but they did none of that. Allah's statement, حَتَّى عَفَواْ (until they `Afaw) refers to increase in numbers, wealth and offspring.…
